We understand that you're bound to have questions to ask about Local Women Local Enterprise, and the enterprise support, courses and experience we have on offer. Feel free to get in touch at any time to ask any questions you have, and in the meantime here are few questions we get asked regularly that might give you some answers too.
WHAT IS LOCAL WOMEN LOCAL ENTERPRISE?
Local Women Local Enterprise is a project delivered by a Charity and community enterprise based in the West End of Newcastle. We provide enterprise support, courses and experiences, all delivered in the local community. We help women to make real, sustainable progress towards financially independence.
WHAT IS ENTERPRISE?
Enterprise can mean a number of things. The word enterprise can be used to describe setting up a business, or working for yourself, and through Local Women Local Enterprise we can help you to do that. Learning about enterprise can also build your confidence, so you could start volunteering, go on to further courses or find a job.
At Local Women Local Enterprise, 'enterprise' means local women working together, sharing ideas, using skills & creativity, to help you to build confidence and experience so you can move forward and earn the money you need to become independent.
HOW CAN I GET ON A COURSE?
We have a drop-in morning every Tuesday morning for new members to come along to register. We will then send you details of all of our courses. Courses begin at different times during the year. Please check the calendar to find out when you can enrol for our upcoming courses.
DO I HAVE TO PAY TO ATTEND COURSES?
No. All of our courses are fully funded so you can attend free of charge. For some courses there may be a returnable deposit system in place.
IS CHILDCARE AVAILABLE?
A crèche is available for you to use for most courses, with limited spaces. Please check course information to find out if crèche is available for the course you're interested, and also you can check with your Development Worker if you aren't sure.
WILL I BE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND A COURSE?
For some of the courses, including accredited courses, we may need to do an assessment with you before we give you a place to make sure the course is right for you. That also gives us the opportunity to suggest other courses you might like to attend to suit your individual needs, with the aim of helping you as much as possible to get you started on your journey.
ARE THE COURSES ACCREDITED?
Yes some of our courses are accredited, but we also run a variety of non-accredited courses too, at different levels. On completion of a non-accredited course, you will receive an attendance certificate as a record of your participation and achievement. Please read the course description to find out which courses are accredited.
