"Local Women Local Enterprise changed my life for the better. I now have my own business idea, and a part-time job in a cafe"Ngozi
Life was difficult. Relocation meant that I had left my own community and support networks behind, and being new to the country, and the Newcastle area, I began to feel depressed, not sure what to do or who to turn to.
Depression is a disease. I couldn’t picture what was happening to me, and had too many negative thoughts – so many questions going through my mind – but I knew I wanted to move forward.
Being in a class with other women made me feel comfortable, and courageous. When I meet with other women we chat and relate to one another. Listening to them, and listening to my teachers, I was able to learn, and I realised that their lives were just as difficult as mine.
Then I got involved in the ‘Make’ Enterprise course. The Make Sale at the end of the course was great. We made cards, and people appreciated our work. It was a lovely feeling.
Working with other women helped me with my journey and helped me to think ahead.
My life changed for good. I have a part time job now in a café, and this is helping me to see more people, and communicate with others, and use my customer services skills experience gained from the enterprise course I attended.
My message to inspire other local women:Ngozi
“Fellow women, it takes time but you will surely achieve your goal. Anywhere you find yourself, try to associate with other women who can be there for you, and help you to achieve your goal. Positive people can change your life.“
