I know how enterprise works now, since being involved with LWLE. I want women with a passion to come and get the help like I didSylvia
I wished to do something myself, something I loved, something with passion. I tried to open a business in 2011, but I moved one step forward and miles back again, so had to go back to benefits and then back to my old job.
I didn’t know what to do to get my dream to reality. I felt as though my business didn’t work because I didn’t have the right help, and I didn’t know the right people. Everything was so expensive and I couldn’t afford to pay for advice or training.
I received the support I needed to push forward my dream. I did the Bake for Bake Sales Course and the Exploring Enterprise Course. These courses were perfect as they allowed me to think what is like to be in business. It opened my mind. Costing activities led me to learn about prices and how I can work to make a profit. This course was practical work experience - I thought about enterprise as a whole and how to be a business woman
I’m currently catering for events and developing my business. My first catering event was at the Local Women Local Enterprise Open Day, from which I received great feedback and this led to further bookings. I have my own business cards and my business is spreading via word of mouth fast. Through this project I have a business advisor to support me through this process.
Through LWLE I have the chance to do something myself, something I love. I know how enterprise works now, since being involved with LWLE; it has given me the opportunity. I plan to continue with developing the business, and will be doing business courses and workshops including marketing, budgeting and social media.
My Message to inspire other local women:Sylvia
“I want women with a passion to come through this door and get the help like I did. It really works. Go for it. The sky is the limit”
